Featured Short Documentary
Sixth grader Stephanie Maldonado, from a
disadvantaged neighborhood in Long Beach, California, dedicates
a summer to explore the world of hard-working migrant farm-harvesting
families in the Eastern Coachella Valley. Along with others,
she offers visual awareness of plights greater than her own
through a short documentary, “The Purepecha:
Poorest of the Poor,” which is being invited
to screen and feature panel presentations hosted by Tamara
Damante (KESQ-CH.3), most recently for the
Coachella Valley Latino International Film Festival, HollyShorts
International Film Festival, the Palm Springs International
Short Film Festival, and for AFTRA during Hispanic Heritage
Month.
